Image Placement

Bruce Naples 12 years ago updated by peoples_e 12 years ago 2

All images initially appear at the top of a chapter and then must be dragged down into position. This is very tedious in a long chapter. Why not allow copy/paste into position like text?

Hi Bruce,

Thanks for your suggestion.  Yes, we are totally aware that image (and video) placement is not ideal right now.  We're still discussing the best way to proceed, but this is one of the top things on the list of improvements/fixes.

As it stands now, we've disabled some of the built-in image handling functionality of our wysiwyg (CKEditor), which had the side-effect of removing copying and pasting of images.  The problem was that because CKEditor is built primarily for the web, and not re-flowable e-books, it made it really easy for a user to introduce code into their e-book that wouldn't look right on an e-reader.  For example, it would add fixed width and height dimensions to image tags that might look fine in the tool, but aren't ideal for epubs.

In the meantime (and we realize this isn't a great solution), we've found that switching to the "source" view in the wysiwyg and cutting and pasting the image code is a relatively painless way to move images.

thanks,

oliver

HI bruce, I just wanted to let you know that we've transitioned to a new wysiwyg that allows copying and pasting of images.  Additionally, it's a bit easier to place images within a large body of text now too.   Place your cursor where you want the image to end up then drag the image from the assets tab into the wysiwyg.

Hope that helps,

oliver
